BIZZ-E SGC

Jun22

Another birthday canvas for my friend Matt aka "Bizz-E"

Bizz-e was the first person I ever painted graffiti with, and I owe a lot of whats on this blog to him being there with me for the early years, so props to him for inhaling half the paint fumes I was exposed to in so many tunnels and under bridges in northern Ontario.

peace to my SGC family!

Nikkyu Mural

May28

I painted a mural for Nikkyu Sushi at 3302 Main st. this week.

The mural was produced with the assistance of the City of Vancouver Graffiti program featured in a previous post :here:

The before view:

Starting with a series of concept drawings;

revised to look more traditional;

then a final revision to add more colour and impact.

the design was also flipped so the waves were to be painted at the left side of the design.

-

See the gallery for the full final image as well as detail views of the mural design.

Dreaming Nightmares @ The Fall

May01

Link to The Fall's event listing for this show HERE

Here's some pics from The "Dreaming Nightmares" opening at The Fall Last night.

Dreaming Nightmares

"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds,
wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they
may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible."

- Thomas E Lawrence

For most, the hours round midnight are spent in quiet slumber. For some, the night means prowling
city streets - spraypaint, stencils and posters in hand - slipping in and out of shadowed alleys as
quietly as dreams slip from memory upon waking.

Dreaming Nightmares brings together street and stencil artists from around the world in the
exploration of a common theme: the visions that appear to us while sleeping, whether pleasant or
demonic or somewhere in between.

The summer is almost here, and I am again taking submissions to paint murals in the Vancouver area.

Is your business and or property a target of graffiti artists and vandals?

The City of vancouver enforces a strict anti-graffiti by-law. If you have received a by-law notice to clean up graffiti, there is a support system in place to help counter this impact.

Murals have been shown to effectively reduce vandalism on private property as well as beatutify empty walls, which supportiung local culture and artists. typically a mural stands a 98% chance of being left alone over a blank wall. If your business suffers from graffiti impacts, you may be eligibile for a subsidized mural.

the city offers to supply materials and equipment while business owners and artist(ME) can negotiate a pay for labour arrangement.

you can visit the City of Vancouver program here, You can also call the Graffiti Hotline at 604-873-7161 for more information.

and as always contact me directly at trevor.goodwin@gmail.com to arrange a meeting to discuss mural concepts and costs.

I have worked within a similar prgram in Toronto with great success..

a group of 3 portraits.

Apr20

I've been wanting to develop my portraiture skills, and so, created this series of three portraits on 10" sqaure canvas board.

included in the gallery are the oringinal photos, the production sketch, and the final painting.

The main outline colour is a mettalic teal, which was nealy impossible to photograph well. These photo's certainly dont do the works justice.

thanks to the models; Shawna, Alice, and Gianna.
